IBM Switches to Open Office14 Sep 2009
360,000 IBM workers have been told to stop using Microsoft Office and switch to the Open Office-based software Symphony.
Aside from standalone use, there are lots of enterprise applications that use bits and pieces from Microsoft Office. I've always wondered why software vendors don't use Open Office as a free alternative. I suppose licensing issues might preclude uptake but if carefully done it could lower costs for both customers and vendors.
